4th January a precious day, says Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum

WAM -- Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, said that 4th January is a precious occasion remembered fondly by the people of the UAE every year since Sheikh Mohammed's accession as Ruler of Dubai.

She recalled her husband’s oft-quoted words that his aspiration was for his nation to be number one and that becoming number one is not impossible, because "the word impossible doesn't exist in our dictionary."

Praising the UAE Food Bank initiative, launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed today, she said 4th January has become a day of special and constructive initiatives that reflect the strong resolve of the UAE people.

Noting that 2017 began with such a generous initiative, she said Sheikh Mohammed's move was in response to the decision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to declare 2017 as the Year of Giving.

Sheikha Hind said the world is currently witnessing many challenges in different parts the world, and providing food has become a hard task in some cases.

Reminding everyone that certain countries were facing a famine, she said the international community must intensify its efforts to tackle this problem.

"The UAE always supports people in need, regardless of their colour, sex or religion, in pursuance of the approach established by the founder of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Sheikha Hind further noted that the UAE has always been and will always be generous, thanks to the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa, the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, follow-up by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, as well as the efforts being made by all the generous Emiratis.
