The opening is timed to coincide with the 2014 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Abu Dhabi’s upcoming retail destination, Yas Mall, will be opened to public on November 19, developer Aldar has announced.
The opening is timed to coincide with the 2014 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which takes place between 20-23 November. The mall is also expecting to attract significant traffic over the festive and New Year periods, a statement said.
Spread across 2.5 million square feet, the mall will feature 370 retail and F&B brands.
Among them will be the largest Debenhams outside of the UK; Abu Dhabi’s first Hamleys toy store, Cheesecake Factory and Angelina outlets; and the region’s first Lego Concept store and Rogo’s Rollercoaster Restaurant.
It will feature 20 VOX cinema screens, with the emirate’s first 4Dx technology and biggest VOX Max screen including three gold cinemas.
Yas Mall will also be connected to the neighbouring indoor theme park Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.
Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, CEO of Aldar Properties said: “The mall will add significantly to the Yas Island experience, complimenting attractions that include Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and the island’s seven hotels, as well as the Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Links golf course, and Yas Waterworld.”
The mall is expected to attract around 20 million visitors during the first year of operation, according to Talal Al Dhiyebi, executive director of asset management of Aldar Properties.
“There are a number of residential communities around the region which have been traditionally underserved in terms of quality retail and they will be backing us,” he told reporters.
