Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi on Saturday launched the first-ever Abu Dhabi Aviation & Aerospace Week (ADAAW), which runs until March 12.

The landmark event is held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Six key aviation sector events will take place throughout the week, commencing Saturday with the second Unmanned Systems Exhibition & Conference and the first Simulation Conference & Exhibition. The week continues with the third Global Aerospace Summit, the fourth Abu Dhabi Air Expo, and the first Middle East Aviation Career Conference & Exhibition before an adrenalin-pumping finish with the Red Bull Air Race.
“Abu Dhabi Aviation & Aerospace Week cements the central role Abu Dhabi Emirate plays as a hub for stakeholders across the regional and global aviation industry to share key insights, best practices, and catalyse new relationships,” said Mubarak Al Shamisi, Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau Director, a division of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), a key organiser for the week.
The Unmanned System Exhibition & Conference, which opens its doors today through to March 8, is a novel opportunity for manufacturers, suppliers, and operators at the forefront of innovative unmanned technology to establish connections across the aviation sector.

At the same time, the inaugural Simulation Conference & Exhibition showcases the latest developments in defence and civilian simulation systems, featuring a dedicated space for businesses focused on defence training and development. Both events are held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec).

Path forward

From March 7-8, Adnec will open another of its conference halls to host the exclusive Global Aerospace Summit, which will see 1,000 senior executives, senior decision-makers, and government officials spread throughout the aerospace, aviation, defence, and space sectors as they discuss and develop an innovative path forward.
The second half of ADAAW is then set to continue with Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2016 and the Middle East Aviation Career Conference & Exhibition. The former expects to attract 15,000 guests as the latest in general and business aviation is showcased on the tarmac of Al Bateen Executive Airport alongside 250 exhibitors and 100 aircraft on display. The latter, meanwhile, will bring leaders from across the industry alongside over 1,000 students to discuss workforce-related progress.
Abu Dhabi Aviation & Aerospace Week then comes to a close with the opening leg of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship along the Corniche, which features a world-class line-up of 14 pilots who endure forces up to 10 times the force of gravity as they navigate a complex course in race planes built for speed.
