Amal Al Qubaisi discusses promotion of parliamentary co-operation with Russia

WAM -- Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, discussed the promotion of co-operation and strategic partnerships between the UAE and Russia, with the delegation heads.The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 136th Session of the General Assembly and the 200th Session of the Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, IPU, in Dhaka, the capital of the Republic of Bangladesh.

Dr. Al Qubaisi met with Elias Omakhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council in the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

Dr. Al Qubaisi stressed the important role of parliaments and parliamentary diplomacy in working together, and in co-operation and co-ordination with governments, to push forward political, economic, trade and investment relations between the UAE and the Russian Federation and South Korea to achieve the strategic partnerships that the wise leadership desires for. She highlighted the success of mutual visits with officials of these countries, which aim to discuss various national, regional and international issues.

During her meeting with Omakhanov, Dr. Al Qubaisi renewed the FNC’s strong condemnation of the terrorist bombings that hit the St. Petersburg Metro in Russia, which resulted in dozens of innocent casualties. Omakhanov stressed the importance of the UAE’s role as an important partner of Russia while praising the development of bilateral relations due to active political dialogue and regular visits between both countries.
