UAE among top 10 countries for LEED Green Building: US Green Building Council Index

The UAE led the Middle Eastern countries in green building applications, according to the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) international rankings of the top 10 countries for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) in 2015, the world's most widely used and recognised green building rating system.

Flydubai to begin flights from Al Maktoum International Airport

Flydubai will begin operations at Dubai World Central (DWC) from October 25, the budget airline said on Tuesday, bolstering Dubai's efforts to have carriers switch from the emirate's busy main airport.

Flydubai said it would serve destinations during the winter schedule from DWC's Al Maktoum International Airport. It will become just the fifth passenger airline to operate from DWC, with many reluctant to move operations from Dubai International.

The complex task of building moving sand-dune walls at the UAE pavilion in Milan

Hundreds of intricate panels expertly made by engineers and workers in a factory in southern China were fitted together perfectly to build the giant, dune-inspired structure that is attracting thousands of people at the Milan Expo.

The sand-textured UAE pavilion walls were created using 330 moulds to replicate the patterns and ridges of dunes on to 903 panels made at a unit near Panyu city.
