WAM -- The China Federation of Industrial Economics, CFIE, has announced that it has established a strategic partnership with the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit, GMIS, being hosted in Abu Dhabi by the UAE Ministry of Economy and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, UNIDO, at the Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi from March 27th to 30th.
As China’s largest federation of industrial associations, the CFIE promotes the key topics that the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit is committed to pursuing, including the progression of manufacturing in light of the next Industrial Revolution, exploring governance in the digital age of industry and social responsibility.
Established in 1988, CFIE has now 87 consultants, 222 directors, 76 members of the Presidium, 413 members, including 178 national industrial association members covering an extensive range of industrial sectors including iron and steel, textiles, light industry, machinery, electronics, petrochemical, electricity, building materials, aviation and aerospace, energy and transportation.
Speaking on the announcement, Xiong Meng, Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of CFIE, said, "Manufacturing has long been the backbone of China’s economy, and we have remained competitive globally through our increasing industrial activity by adopting progressive policies and technologies. The GMIS will provide us with an opportunity to share our own experiences with our peers in the industry, while exchanging knowledge with the world’s leaders in this sector, so that we can implement and develop the best practices that will facilitate the sustainable growth of China’s manufacturing and industrial sector as we enter the Industry 4.0 era."
Abu Dhabi has taken the initiative of organising the world’s first Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit that will bring together leaders in business, government and civil society to adopt a transformational approach towards the future of this vital sector. Hosted by the Ministry of Economy and the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, it aims to build strategic alliances that can leverage opportunities surfaced by industrial development, especially digital transformation, to restore global prosperity.
Badr Al-Olama, CEO of Strata and Head of the Organising Committee, said, "As the world’s largest manufacturer and a leading trade partner for numerous economies across the globe, China is exemplary in many ways and we are privileged to establish a strategic partnership with CFIE to promote industry-wide reforms across the world. Given the prestigious standing of the CFIE, and the vast contribution of its members, we believe the upcoming GMIS will witness the drive and ambition that the manufacturing sector aims to achieve in restoring global economic prosperity."
