This Chinese New Year, visitors will be able to explore China’s vast provinces through various region-specific artforms including music, traditional dance, arts, crafts and cultural demonstrations. With themed décor depicting art from various provinces ‘China Art’ at The Dubai Mall presents a culturally enriching programme this Chinese New Year.

The Star Atrium will be the hub of festivities where a giant Chinese pagoda – an iconic symbol of traditional Chinese architecture, will host a full line up of activities: workshops showcasing bottle painting, face painting and calligraphy - all to the tempo of live musicians performing authentic Chinese melodies. Here, visitors can also learn the ancient art of Chinese Tea and watch a gravity-defying Tea Ceremony by Kung Fu artists.

A dedicated kids’ arts and crafts area, on the 2nd Floor near the Dubai Aquarium will also give young ones the opportunity to explore China’s traditional arts with face-painting, Chinese dough doll making, fan making and Chinese origami. Visitors keen learning how to play the ancient games of ‘mahjong’ or ‘xianqi’ (Chinese chess), can visit the activity area in front of Paris Gallery, Ground Floor.

Roaming the mall will be an iconic Chinese character showcasing the art of ‘bian lian’ or face-changing, and live entertainers performing the famed Chinese umbrella dance throughout the two-week festivities.

Outdoors, a complimentary Tai Chi session will be hosted daily at 11:00am on the Dubai Fountain Promenade. An ancient martial arts practice, Tai Chi refers to the philosophy of the forces of yin and yang, and it is practiced worldwide thanks to its wide range of health and mental benefits.

Finally, The Dubai Mall has partnered with Union Pay to offer card holders the chance to win one of six Huawei Mate 10 Pro or Huawei Mate 10 Lite mobiles being given away daily, with every AED 500 spend.
