Alicia said: “Adventures from the North Pole was great. I loved the quality of the performances, especially the ballet dances, which were perfect. Elizabeth also really enjoyed the show and we’ll come back to watch it again soon.”
Maxim added: “DSF presents a good opportunity for unreserved entertainment. Simply being at a mall guarantees entertainment, as there is always one attention-grabbing thing or the other taking place. My family and I have spent around 3000 dollars at DSF to date.”
Mohamed Al Marri, who is a lawyer from Qatar, visiting Dubai on a short holiday with his children Bandar, Alhonoof, and Aljoori, said: “For GCC residents, DSF is a great chance for family entertainment, shopping, and making use of discounted prices and promotions that target different shopper segments. Dubai always impresses us with its shows and its marked development.”
Bandar liked the acrobats and Alhonoof liked the polar bear and decided to take a photo with it, while Aljoori was most fascinated by the snowflakes projected on the large screen as the stage backdrop.
Daniella, the British show director behind the ‘Adventures from the North Pole’, said: “This is the first time ‘Adventures from the North Pole’ has been performed in Dubai. It has been created specifically for DSF and has not been performed anywhere else in the world.”
“It is the story of a girl trying to make her way back home after getting lost in the North Pole. The show lasts 40 minutes long and features different types of performances from ballet to practical stunts to air acrobats, not to mention traditional song and opera singing. The show also features a life-sized animatronic polar bear which is a theatrical icon.”
“Audience feedback to the show has been very positive. My team consists of 11 actors and performers, including 6 dancers and singers. There is an additional show that happens after the first performance that is specifically designated for taking photos with the group.”
“The organizing company of the show, Scolt Entertainment, is based in the UK and has put on 11 shows in Dubai before, most of them during DSF. Dubai has gained a stellar reputation worldwide as the city of festivals, celebrations, and all things big and exciting.”
Mostafa Dabshan, a Pakistani child, was watching the show intently with his sister Mahinour and his mother, Farah, who are all on a short visit to Dubai. Mostafa said: “I love these kinds of shows. Every day we go to a different mall in Dubai to keep up with the entertainment. I love the white polar bear – it looks so real!”
Mahinour said: “The costumes were really beautiful and the ballet dance was amazing. I am going to wait for the additional show so I can take a photo with the actors.”
Farah: “I come to Dubai a few times every year because my husband works here. The kids love coming here and enjoying all the new and refreshing ideas Dubai always has to offer.”
“Even though shopping is my priority when I visit DSF – as I have spent around AED 30,000 so far - I really enjoyed the show and I never thought it would be this amazing. This year’s DSF is better than usual – the promotions seem bigger and more inclusive.”
