Dubai lawyers to offer free services in charitable drive

Dubai Courts and 81 law firms will offer free legal consultations to those who cannot afford a lawyer as part of the Year of Giving drive. Business owners and residents going through insolvency and relatives in family disputes will be among those to benefit, reporting The National.

The programme, called Sanabel Al Khair, aims to develop a culture of giving and philanthropy within the legal and judicial community. ubai Courts has already begun the initiative and said 1,000 clients receiving free legal services that would cost about Dhs 3 million this year.

"Sanabel Al Khair demonstrates our commitment to effectively contribute to the humanitarian and philanthropic efforts in the UAE," said Taresh Al Mansouri, director general of Dubai Courts. "It guarantees the rights, happiness and satisfaction of all citizens and residents in the UAE. We are driven by a clear vision for building a legal and judicial system where everyone is given their rights."

ree representation will include cases and lawsuits involving insolvent people, marriage functions and family arbitration, reconciliation in disputes between spouses and humanitarian cases brought before the courts. Under the Ta’aheed initiative the courts are also offering free printing services to insolvent litigants. Non-Arabic speakers will also benefit from the Your Language initiative, which will provide them with free legal translation services during trials.
