For the first time ever, Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road will turn into a running track on Friday, November 8, 2019. Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) 2019 is giving the city new reasons to join the fitness movement by inviting residents and visitors to get active with Dubai Run 30x30 on Sheikh Zayed Road.

With the aim of fostering a healthy community spirit, the free-to-attend event includes a 5km fun run and a 10km run, with both routes starting and ending at Dubai World Trade Centre.

As part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2019, the city’s main artery will be the site of the Dubai Run 30x30 on Friday, November 8 from 6am to 9am.

The portion of Sheikh Zayed Road on which the run will take place has to be one of the most widely shared images of Dubai, with buildings stacked neatly next to each other, leading up to the beautiful architecture of Emirates Towers.

This free event is the first time people have been allowed to run on the road. Participants will get a new perspective of the city skyline from the middle of Sheikh Zayed Road.

Organisers said the highway will serve as "a memorable route.”

And you don’t need to be a seasoned runner to take part. The 5km fun run is open to all ages, abilities and fitness levels. It will also be wheelchair and stroller accessible, but scooters and rollerblades are not permitted. The 10km run is suitable for those aged 18 or older and needs to be completed in 80 minutes.

Registration is essential for both events. Children under eight years old do not need to sign up but must be accompanied by a registered participant. Registration is open now.

Dubai Run is presented by DEWA, in association with Etisalat, Dubai Police, RTA and ARN.
