Gulf News -- New Year’s Eve revellers in the UAE are set to witness a “never-before spectacle,” as Emaar prepares to light up the sky with a dazzling fireworks display to welcome 2018.
The property developer announced on Sunday that it is preparing to hold another edition of its annual gala celebration, which will again put Dubai on the global map.
“Lighting up the evening sky with #LightUp2018, Emaar is setting the stage for ushering in the New Year with a performance that will dazzle the world and put the global spotlight on the UAE and Dubai,” the developer said in a statement.
Those who visit Downtown Dubai can expect to see the whole place come alive, and there will be “surprises” to delight everyone.
For one, the towers that make up the whole development that features Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower, as the centrepiece, will light up, and there will be a choreographed music to spice up and complete the show.
“The entire show is coordinated and produced by a team of world-class experts,” Emaar said in a statement.
There will be viewing platforms for spectators across Burj Park, just below Burj Khalifa, and this is where the heart of the celebration happens on the eve of 2018.
Visitors are strongly advised to come to Downtown Dubai by 6pm to avoid delays or getting stuck in the crowds. There will also be public transport for commuters to take advantage of.
The fireworks display in Downtown is one of the most anticipated events during New Year's Eve. Back in 2013, nearly two million visitors flocked to the area to watch the show.
