Gulf News -- A surprise draw held during a tennis game in Dubai has made yet another UAE expat’s dream come true.
Abdul Gafoor Kunnathakath, who works for a utility company in the UAE, was announced as the winner of a luxury car at the latest Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise raffle that was held at the closing of the Dubai Championships final on Saturday.
His ticket was drawn by Spanish player Roberto Bautista Agut, who also happens to be the champion of the tournament.
The 51-year-old expat who will be driving home an Audi Q7 3.0 has been buying Dubai Duty Free tickets for quite sometime and has been living in Dubai for more than three decades.
Duty Free raffle participants normally get either $1 million in cash or a luxury motorbike, but this time around, organisers have decided to give away a brand-new car.
“This is such a great surprise. I can’t believe I’ve won this fantastic car. It was the best news I’ve had in a long time,” Kunnathakath said.
The car is currently priced between Dh268,000 and Dh343,000 in Dubai.
The Dubai Duty Free tennis surprise promotion was held in conjunction with the tournament and ran from February 19 to March 3.
