The first ever exhibition of 20th century Russian art to be showcased in the United Arab Emirates opened its doors at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, Tuesday.

The 'Art Russe Collection of 20th Century Russian and Soviet Art: War and Peace', showcases some of the most recognised works of 20th century Russian art including Alexander Laktionov's "Letter from the Front" and Fyodor Reshetnikov's "Low Marks Again", Tatiana Yablonskaya's images of harvesting, Nicolai Fechin's "Daisies", Nicholas Roerich's "And We Do Not Fear".

The exhibition was opened by Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al-Nahayan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development who cut the ribbon at the opening event.

Featuring over 120 works, the exhibition reflects different stages in the development of Russia's artistic tradition over the past century. The collection aims to introduce visitors to iconic artists who until recently were largely unknown in UAE.

Art Russe Collection of 20th Century Russian and Soviet Art: War and Peace will run from the 6 October 2015 - 10 December 2015 in the UAE capital.
