How it all began
Executive Chef at Iberotel Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort and VP of the Culinary Guild of the East Coast KAC Prasad is behind the event, which has grown bigger every year.
It all started with an idea on how to motivate chefs at Iberotel Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort and break the monotony of their daily routine. In short, to literally ‘spice up’ their lives. The effort paid off by giving the whole East Coast the wonderful opportunity.
As Miramar Al Aqah is also running on full occupancy during the event, the staff have to strike the right balance between competing in the important culinary competition that could very well prove life-changing, and their daily duties in the kitchen, all without compromising on the impeccable standards of the beautiful luxury resort.
However both Chef Prasad and Ashraf Helmy, General Manager & Area Business Development Manager are confident that their baton holders are the best in the class.
Helmy believes that the competition is not an obstacle but an attraction for the guests at Miramar. The key is to make them understand what the hotel is trying to do.
“Almost all our guests are interested in the experience. Who doesn't love food? Even if a husband is not happy going to see the competition, the wife is. So far, we haven't had anyone complain about the competition. Our customers visit it and they enjoy the show,” he confirms.
A new township expected to be completed within two years, coming up next to the hotel will feature not only shopping malls, entertainment zones, a water park and eateries but also numerous other facilities like spas, clinics, salons, health clubs and everything else a vibrant community needs.
“The idea is to encourage more people to come here and live near Al-Aqah” elaborates Mr Ashraf adding, “Our township will be the nucleus of the community. It's for our guests too. Right now, they step out of hotel and there's nothing to do. Then, they will be spoilt for choice.”
All commercial establishments at the 5,000 square metre township will be leased and Miramar will handle the management, maintenance and security.
