Dubai has firmly pitched itself in the camp of the future, and many of its new homes contain the latest smart home technology - that said, a modern-looking home can sometimes include timeless luxury elements. In the case of this Dh25 million villa in the new suburb of Mohammed bin Rashid City's District One, the contemporary exterior gives way to an interior dripping in Swarovski crystals, which wouldn't look out of place whether it was 1978 or 2018.
The five-bedroom property, reaching a built up area of 7,632 sq ft, features a double-height front door that opens into a centre-piece hallway with a two-storey stud, giving an extra feeling of grandeur among the sparkling stones. A Swarovski wall light standing over a wooden hall table is a taste of things to come.
Swarovski crystals are found in all of the lighting fixtures - they are extra apparent in the dramatic chandeliers which come as part of the ready-furnished package.
Other standouts include an 80-inch Bang & Olufsen television that can be rotated via remote control for different viewing angles, marble flooring throughout the house, and a less-formal dining area close to the kitchen complete with - you've guessed it - a crystal chandelier hanging over the table.
The kitchen has one wall covered in floor-to-ceiling cupboards incorporating Gaggenau appliances such as drinks coolers and coffee machines.
Upstairs, all of the bedrooms have balconies with a direct view of the Burj Khalifa, while one of the suites has undergone a facelift, transforming it into a dressing room that can be switched back to a bedroom if necessary.
The rear of the property contains a swimming pool, a seating area with wood flooring and a further dining area with a marble floor, all with views of the world's tallest tower. Outdoor diners meanwhile can make use of the equipped BBQ kitchen.
Further perks come in the way of a rear access which leads to the community cycle track, while the villa is a short walk from the 7km 'crystal lagoon' in MBR City.
