Renowned Swiss watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen and Italian high-end shoe manufacturer Santoni celebrated their successful partnership in Dubai last evening. Since 2011, Santoni has been producing exclusive leather straps for some of IWC’s most iconic timepieces. The hand painted straps feature a special patina and wonderful gradations of colour.

IWC Schaffhausen and Santoni share a philosophy of excellence and perfection, as well as a love of craftsmanship and beauty. These values form the foundation of a successful partnership that was initiated five years ago. To celebrate their collaboration, the two brands recently invited a select group of VIP guests to an exclusive dinner at The Artisan restaurant in Dubai. “We are honoured to have Santoni, a pioneer and perfectionist in their industry, as a partner. Their straps perfectly complement some of our most iconic timepieces”, explained IWC Regional Brand Director Luc Rochereau. Giuseppe Santoni, who manages the company in the second generation, added: “I am thrilled to be in Dubai. It has always been a great pleasure for us to work with IWC and to style their watches with our straps.”

Santoni’s hand- dyed leather straps add to the exclusivity

Santoni is renowned for its elegant, handmade leather shoes. Master craftsmen use original dye recipes to apply up to 15 different colours to the leather in a process that can require many hours of work. The same craftsmanship is used to create the hand-dyed leather straps that are manufactured exclusively for IWC. Today, some of the most iconic timepieces from the Portugieser and Portofino collections are firmly held on their owners’ wrists by straps from Santoni. The Portugieser Perpetual Calendar (Ref. 5034), for example, is available with a dark brown or black alligator leather strap, or the Portofino Automatic Moon Phase 37 (Ref. 4590) is offered with a dark blue, black, dark brown or green alligator leather strap.
