Lavrov to meet Vatican’s Foreign Minister in Moscow

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold talks in Moscow next week with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced the upcoming visit and meeting at a briefing on August 20.
“From August 24 to 28, the Secretary of the Holy See for Relations with States and International Organizations, in other words, something akin to the Vatican’s foreign minister, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, will be on a working visit to the Russian Federation,” Zakharova said.
Gallagher is scheduled to meet separately with Lavrov on August 25.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the talks will focus on the current state of relations between Russia and the Vatican, as well as prospects for further cooperation.
The sides will also exchange views on bilateral cooperation and interaction between Moscow and the Holy See on multilateral platforms.
