Longines presents the first set of Dubai World Cup Carnival races at the Meydan Racecourse

Swiss watchmaker, Longines presented the first set of Dubai World Cup Carnival races at the Meydan Racecourse on Thursday, 7^th of January, 2016. As Official Timekeeper and pillar partner of Meydan, Longines kicked off the exciting Dubai World Cup Carnival that signals the countdown to the, Dubai World Cup, which will be held on March 26^th, 2016 and carries a purse.

The meeting began with the evening’s only Purebred Arabian race, Group 1 Al Maktoum Challenge over the mile and was later followed in the card by the equivalent Group 2 race for Thoroughbreds. Each of the three-rounds of the Al Maktoum Challenge may be used as preparation races for the Dubai Kahayla Classic for Purebred Arabians and the Dubai World Cup for Thoroughbreds. The turf track was also opened for the first time this season with three handicaps taking place over 2000m, 1400m and 1000m.
