His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has unveiled the 'Mohammed bin Rashid Smart Majlis', which will connect 30 government entities that receive suggestions, comments and feedback under his direct supervision.

"Our doors are and will remain open, communication channels are open, and today we add a new channel, and a new Majlis to combine different government entities to receive ideas, suggestions and comments," Shaikh Mohammed explained. "Our target is to make Dubai the smartest and fastest developing city worldwide with the assistance of UAE nationals, residents, visitors, and all of Dubai's fans."

Shaikh Mohammed went on to say that the combination of the traditional Majlis concept with advanced technology will allow Dubai residents - and the emirate's fans around the world - to contribute to Dubai's success, by not limiting the spread of ideas to specific time periods. He also noted that he would personally be following the ideas shared with the Smart Majlis programme.

The Smart Majlis will consist of three basic sections. In the first, Dubai residents and outside parties can present their ideas through a simple process that ensures the idea is submitted by competent authorities. In the second section, the public will be provided with an opportunity to give feedback on public facilities such as parks, beaches and roads, by submitting photographs and the geographical location of the defects. This section will draw the attention of local authorities who will then be able to quickly take the necessary steps to maintain Dubai's public spaces.

The third section is comprised mainly of brainstorming exercises in which the public can submit their ideas and interact with one another, as well as follow up on the progress of previously submitted ideas and comments. There will be specialised teams working on tracking the ideas and comments in different areas.

By collecting feedback from residents, the Smart Majlis programme hopes to encourage collective thinking, effective follow-up, as well as promote creative, "outside the box" thinking.

The system - which will be accessible through a variety of platforms - will also include videos that illustrate and provide explanations of the Smart Majlis process.

Those who wish to participate in the process need only present their ideas and comments with a brief summary and choose the relevant category, which can include anything from tourism and entertainment to law and justice and media issues.

The Smart Majlis can be accessed via the MBRMajlis app, or through its online portal at www.MBRMajlis.ae.
