Meraas’s ‘The Dome Box’ at BOXPARK – A Memorable 360-Degree Audio-Visual Experience

Opened on 18^th September, The Dome Box to Feature Three On-screen Animated Adventures on Nature, Science and Environment

Dubai, UAE: 15^th September 2015 – Meraas, a Dubai-based holding company, has launched The Dome Box, a dome theatre by Meraas that screens entertaining and educational cinematic productions.

Opened on 18^th September, The Dome Box will screen four animated feature films that focus on nature, science and the environment. Showcased on a state-of-the-art 360-degree screen that intersperses exceptional audio-visual technology, the movie experience at The Dome Box takes visitors centre-stage to be immersed in the action as it unfolds.

An exciting option for lovers of our planet Earth is ‘The Life of Trees’, a fascinating journey offering hidden insights into the unknown microcosm of trees. Produced on the occasion of the United Nations’ International Year of Forests, this award-winning animated movie is an amusing and inspiring excursion into the secrets of our biosphere, led by cheeky ladybug Dolores and her firefly friend Mike. Set to raise awareness about the value of trees and their indispensable influence on our planet, the cinematic journey is an audio-visual treat for the entire family.

Meanwhile, ‘Africa’ takes visitors on an epic safari on the second-largest continent. The expedition leads through the vast steppe and sky-high canyons, where elephants, giraffes, rhinos and crocodiles live in one of the most untouched landscapes of the world. Offering stunning up-close encounters with the magnificent indigenous animals, the movie is certain to excite visitors of all ages.

The movie ‘Astronaut’ is the perfect choice for discoverers who want to take off on an unforgettable trip to outer space. Narrated by acclaimed actor Ewan McGregor, who is best known for his roles in ‘Trainspotting’ and the ‘Star Wars’ prequel trilogy, it offers a realistic account of the gruelling impact of space exploration and micro-gravity on the human body. ‘Astronaut’ will fascinate the young and the young-at-heart by offering a realistic account of travel to outer space and the challenges of exploring the final frontier.

‘Adventures into the Deep’ transports visitors to the future, where a dramatic climate change has led to rising ocean levels. Travelling deep under the sea, guests get a first-hand impression of the effects climate change has had on marine life and ecosystems. The frightening mission to confront an impending tsunami marks the culmination of the underwater journey. ‘Adventures into the Deep’ is a thought-provoking movie about the impacts of climate change and the vulnerability of our planet.

The cinematic productions have a running length of between 8 and 33 minutes. ‘The Life of Trees’ and ‘Astronaut’ will be available to view in both Arabic and English, while ‘Africa’ and ‘Adventures into the Deep’ feature music and sound effects.

Tickets for The Dome Box are offered in the form of movie packages. Visitors can chose between a two-movie package for AED45 and a four-movie package for AED75. The Dome Box will open from 12 noon until 10pm from Sunday to Thursday, and from 12 noon until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as on public holidays.  Special packages for school groups provide dedicated screening times on weekdays between 9am and 12 noon.
