Mohammed bin Rahid opens expansion of 2nd phase of Dragon Mart 2 in Dubai

DUBAI, 9th February, 2016 (WAM) -- Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, today opened the 2nd expansion of Dragon Mart 2 in Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed, accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, attended the electronic panorama which reflects the designs and sections of the new building of the mart.

The mart's total cost stood at nearly AED one billion and its leasing area reached more than one million square feet, consequently the Dragon Mart, with its two phases, becomes the second largest centre in the world for Chinese products outside the People's Republic of China.

Sheikh Mohammed, along with H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Lt. General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security in Dubai and other officials, toured the halls and facilities of the mart which includes two stories that comprise of 570 shops and 520 kiosks as well as 4500 parking spaces.

During his tour, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by Nakheel Chairman Ali Rashid Lootah on the details of th eproject and its components which includes Novo Cinema that comprises of 12 giant screens as well as other facilities.

Earlier, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on a model of Dragon Mart with its six phases and approved the efforts exerted by of Nakheel in the real estate and tourism development sector in Dubai.

Lootah extended thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Mohammed for his support and confidence to the members and the Board of Directors of the company.
