OMEGA's well-travelled showcase of women's watchmaking was launched with signature OMEGA style at a special cocktail party and dinner attended by international guests and media, as well as Oscar-winner and OMEGA ambassador Nicole Kidman. It was the third "Her Time" launch for the talented actress, who is often seen on the red carpet wearing the kind of vintage OMEGA timepiece celebrated in the exhibition.
The Marble Palace, one of St. Petersburg’s most stunning structures and one that dates to the eighteenth century, includes a feminine - albeit short-lived - touch of Swiss watchmaking in its opulent interior. Now through September 12, Omega’s exhibition of women’s watchmaking,“Her Time,” will be on display at the neoclassical venue, showcasing the brand’s history and evolution in creating timepieces for women.
OMEGA's "Her Time" displays OMEGA’s evolution of women’s timepieces and changing styles, from early Lèpine pendants and the iconic Ladymatic, through to "secret jewellery watches" and today’s latest creations. The watches are also complemented by examples of vintage artwork and classic OMEGA advertising, all of which show women in a variety of lifestyles and fashions throughout the years.
Award-winning actress, activist and Goodwill Ambassador Nicole Kidman, who attended the Milan and Shanghai openings, was on hand for the launch of this event. The celebration included cocktails and dinner, and it was attended by international media and such high-profile Russian guests as including fashion designer Igor Chapurin, singer Inna Malikova, actor Pavel Volya and his wife, gymnast and TV host Liasan Utiasheva.
President and CEO of Omega Raynald Aeschlimann noted Kidman’s “willingness to take risks to create something truly original” and went on to say: “There's an obvious synergy between our friend and what we're celebrating this evening. Nicole perfectly embodies the women OMEGA's watchmakers had in mind when they started producing ladies' timepieces over a century ago: talented, charming, witty and independent.”
The “Her Time” exhibition includes early Lèpine pendant watches, “secret” jewelry watches and the emblematic Omega Ladymatic, as well as contemporary designs such as the De Ville Trésor and the Seamaster Aqua Terra, in addition to the legendary Ladymatic. Not so incidentally, the 1955 Ladymatic on display is fitted with the then-smallest rotor-equipped automatic caliber, which was a revolutionary accomplishment. The 2010 Ladymatic on display represents the new generation of Ladymatic models that combine the same tenets of great design and technology, but also include updated features such as Co-Axial movements and bold dials, bezels and indexes. The multitude of timepieces in the exhibit were dramatically complemented by vintage art and Omega advertising, all focused on women and fashion throughout the years.
