Prospects of cooperation between customs services of Dubai and Azerbaijan discussed

By the invitation of The State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and initiative of Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Dubai from 16 to 18 september 2015 Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation of the Emirate of Dubai Sultan Ahmed Sultan bin Sulayem with official delegation visited Azerbaijan Republic.

Prior to the meeting, the delegation paid tribute to the nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev and outstanding ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva and laid flowers on the graves at the Alley of Honor. Then, the guests came to the Martyrs' Alley to pay tribute to those killed struggling for Azerbaijan's independence and territorial integrity.

Following this, the delegation from Dubai held a meeting with the leadership of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Chairman of the State Customs Committee, customs service Lieutenant-General Aydin Aliyev said Azerbaijan was interested in establishing close cooperation with all states, including the Emirate of Dubai in all spheres, underlined that there were a number of factors uniting the two sides. Aydin Aliyev said both political and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Dubai were on the highest level.

"In general we have got a cooperation of mutual interest. It would be more favorable to build our work in line with the requirements and proposals after your delegation gets familiarized with the customs system in Azerbaijan," chairman of the Committee said.

The head of the delegation Sultan Ahmed Sultan bin Sulayem expressed his satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan, said the country's economic achievements had made deep impressions on the delegation of Dubai. Underlining that those achievements were results of sagacious policy of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the guest highly appreciated channeling of the oil revenues into the country's economy and diversification of economy. Noting that they were interested in cooperating with Azerbaijan in all spheres, including customs sphere, the guest expressed his confidence that the visit would lay the foundation of effective relations, contribute to exchanging experience between the two sides.

The sides exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest.

Then, the guests made a presentation on Dubai Customs Service, got familiarized with the projects on the modernization of Azerbaijan's customs service.

The delegation from Dubai also visited the Central Hospital of the State Customs Committee, the guests were given detailed information about the medical facility.
