Registration opens for retail outlets in Dubai Shopping Festival 2016

21st edition set to boost retail sales citywide

Registration for running retail promotions during the 21st edition of Dubai Shopping Festival commenced  on 8 November with the organisers, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) offering retailers a range of options to boost sales during the 32-day shopping extravaganza from  1 January to 1 February, 2016.

The retail registration for DSF 2016 will continue until 28 January 2016. The registration centres are located at the Department of Economic Development’s offices at Business Village, Block A, and its branch at The Dubai Mall, and will be open daily, Sunday to Thursday from 7.30am to 1.30pm.

As a global attraction that attracts over 4.4 million visitors every year with a total spending of around AED 15 billion, Dubai Shopping Festival is an important retail season that has played a major role in transforming Dubai into a destination that offers the world’s best shopping experiences.

Retailers can select from a variety of promotions such as Sale, Part Sale, DSF Discounts and DSF Offers, and categories including retail outlet with multiple brands, Group of companies, Kiosks and Stands, restaurants, online advertising, raffles and exhibitions.

Saeed Mohammad Mesam Al Falasi, Director, Strategic Alliance Division, (DFRE) said: “DSF is always a special time for shopping in Dubai and  the numerous deals, discounts and special offers by Dubai’s retailers add to the enriching experience enjoyed by residents and visitors from around the world.   From a small retail event to an internationally acclaimed festival, DSF has come a long way in contributing immensely towards Dubai’s economy. In fact, retailers report that 25-30 percent of their annual retail sales happen during DSF. We would like to encourage retailers to use the opportunity to register now and participate in DSF 2016 with the aim of further boosting sales during this peak shopping season and at the same time help further enhance Dubai’s position as a year-round family tourism destination.”

Ever mindful of upholding the hard-earned reputation of Dubai as a place for genuine and value-for-money  deals, and quality shopping, and as part of ongoing efforts to further elevate the standards of shopping, exhaustive random checks will be carried out by the Department of Economic Development to ensure that participating outlets are actually delivering on their promised offers and  offering  quality goods and services.
