The official reception on the occasion of the Russian National Day took place in Abu Dhabi on November 1, organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the United Arab Emirates and Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Dubai and Northern Emirates.

The event was moved from June 12 because of the celebration of the Holy month of Ramadan in the UAE and coincided with the National Unity Day.

H.E. Ohoud Bint Khalfan Al Roumi, UAE Minister of State for Happiness and Wellbeing, was the guest of honor from the Emirati side. The ceremony was also attended by a number of the UAE officials, members of the diplomatic corps, including heads of foreign missions accredited in the country, representatives of business community and Russian compatriots. In total more than 400 guests participated in the event.

In his opening speech, H.E. Alexander Efimov, Russian Ambassador to the UAE, briefed the guests about Russia’s role in the global affairs, its policy in the MENA region and its bilateral relations with the UAE, which undergo a period of rise and enhancement.

“No matter what the issue is – humanitarian, technology, non-proliferation, culture or anything else – Russia is always a strong, constructive and responsible proponent of a genuine teamwork, without double standards and in strict compliance with the international law. We have no hidden agendas – only a strive to achieve just and balanced international order.

Our policy in the Middle East, our cooperation with the Islamic world in general is time tested and proves that Russia never abandons its friends. It is not surprising that Moscow has become the center of gravity for leaders and envoys from Arab and Muslim countries. We know what to do and how to assist our allies and partners.

We do praise our bilateral ties with the UAE which are not just getting stronger. As it was confirmed this April by President Vladimir Putin and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces the bilateral relations have reached the strategic level – thanks to the close or similar vision of major international developments, mutual interest in material cooperation and – for sure – trustful relations between the leaders of our countries,”  – Ambassador said.
