Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed meets US envoy at Louvre Abu Dhabi

The National -- Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, met Brett McGurk, the US envoy to the anti-ISIL coalition at Louvre Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

In a meeting held at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces discussed the ongoing international joint coordination efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.

Sheikh Mohammed and Mr McGurk exchanged views on the coalition's operations to combat ISIL, and means to eradicate the terrorist organisation and drain its resources.

The two sides also reviewed issues of mutual concern.

The meeting was attended by Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority, Mohammed Al Mazrouie, Under Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, and Barbara Leaf, the US ambassador to the UAE.

Elsewhere, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met the outgoing UN special envoy to Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

During the meeting, held at the ministry in Abu Dhabi, they discussed the latest developments in Yemen and the efforts being exerted in this regard.

Sheikh Abdullah lauded the significant efforts by Mr Ahmed during his tenure in the region. He also highlighted the UAE's unwavering stance in supporting the people of Yemen.

He also emphasised the UAE's support for the efforts of the United Nations to reach a political solution in Yemen.
