Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) today (Wednesday) launched an exciting new attraction with the inaugural Seaplane flight that landed at Al Zorah Marina 1, Ajman. Also attending the launch were HE Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General of ATDD; HE Eng. Omar Ahmed Bin Omair Al Muhairi, Director General of Public Transport Corporation in Ajman, Executive Director of the Civil Aviation Department; Mr. Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director of Media Office, Rulers Court; Imad Dana, CEO Al Zorah Development Company and Seawings CEO, Mr. Stuart Wheeler.

Ajman will now offer regular flights on the Cessna 208 Caravan Seaplanes over Ajman on a per person basis, taking in the iconic sights of the Emirate in the process. Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi, HE Eng. Omar Ahmed Bin Omair Al Muhairi, Abdullah Al Nuaimi, along with HE Al Geziry, Mr. Wheeler and members of the press, boarded the Seaplane for a tour over Ajman’s stunning sights including the Al Zorah Mangrove Reserve, Marina and Ajman’s city centre.

Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi said, “Ajman is increasingly offering exciting visitor attractions for our growing market of local, regional and international tourists. Now we have introduced a number of new projects, Ajman has much to offer holidaymakers and local visitors looking to try something new and different. With the launch of the Seaplane, residents and tourists can now get a unique, birds-eye view of the Emirate and travel to Dubai Creek in style.”

Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi added that, with the addition of the Seawings Seaplane, Ajman is increasing its new attractions for local residents and tourists, following the opening of several attractions, as well as providing a link to other Emirates.

These Seaplane tours add to our growing portfolio of high quality tourist excursions and we look forward to the creative packaging of different attractions giving our customers the best experiences possible.”

Flights will take off on a pre-booked basis from Al Zorah Marina 1 in Ajman, landing at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and can take up to nine passengers. It is able to swoop low over the stunning natural mangroves of Al Zorah as well as other Ajman landmarks.

HE Eng. Omar Ahmed Bin Omair Al Muhairi said, “Launching the Seaplane is an important project within Ajman’s plans to boost the transport sector, which stems from the comprehensive strategic aims adopted by HH Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Chairman of the Executive Council. Ajman Civil Aviation Department contributed to the identification of the appropriate model to operate this type of activity that meets all safety and security requirements, and ensures passenger safety and sustainability of operations in coordination with the General Authority of Civil Aviation.”

The Seaplane follows the launch of new eco-tourism excursions in Al Zorah Mangrove Reserve last month in collaboration with Quest for Adventure. Watersports and eco-tourism options are now available in Al Zorah Marina 1 such as Wake-boarding and kayaking, along with informative tours of the mangroves taking in over 100 local and migratory species. This year, edutainment tours were also started from Al Zorah Marina 1, called the Pearl Journey. The tours combine live demonstrations about the history of pearl diving in the area with a boat trip around the mangroves.
