UAE and China join hands to further bilateral ‘media’ ties

Commissioned by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People’s Republic of China, China International TV Corporation (CCTV-CITVC) organized "China Pavilion” at the 8^th edition of MYCONTENT between October 29^th to 30^th in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, alongside a group of Chinese broadcasting enterprises, including China Global Television Network Arabic Channel (CGTN-Arabic), China Intercontinental Communication Center (CICC), Zhejiang Megamedia, Henan York Animation, Besteasy (Beijing) Translations Corporation and more.

At this exhibition, visitors are brought to China by designing down to the very details "China Pavilion" resembles the beauty of Chinese landscape with a distinctive vivid arrangement, whilst the handbook for the exhibition integrated ancient Chinese architecture with ink drawings and highlighting Chinese traditional culture. Even the invitation for “China Showcase” utilized elements of Chinese fine arts which altogether are both refreshing and pleasing.

In addition to the "China Pavilion", CITVC also held the “China Showcase” and presented the various Chinese Films and TV works and exchanged the opportunities of bilateral cooperation between China and Middle East region.  

Mr. Ma Xuliang, Vice Consul-General of Consulate General of The People’s Republic of China in Dubai attended the event and addressed the audience. Mr. Ma mentioned that film and television works are the most intuitive and effective method to understand a country, its culture and its people, as well as being the channel closest to the people. He further added, "They record the pace of a nation's development, and reflect the characteristics of the eras more vividly. The film and television industry has grown rapidly in China in the recent years, which has a lot to do with the prosperity of the country. I believe that the 'China Showcase' Summit can facilitate the exchange and cooperation between China and the Arab countries, and enables the audience in the Arab region to learn more about China.”

Ms. Shen Jianing, Assistant to President of CITVC and the General Manager of China Radio, Film & Television Programs Exchanging Center, opened “China Showcase” with a speech introducing the latest documentaries including "Aerial China" 4K version, "China’s Mega Projects 2" and the TV series "Tribes and Empires: Storm of Prophecy", "Memories of Love” and more.

In her speech, Ms. Shen also actively invited the media in the Arab region to participate in the "Belt and Road Media Community" and "Golden Ribbon" - International adaptation selection for exemplary programs, co-operating overseas channels and segments, reciprocal program syndication and international co-production. In the end, CITVC and China Arab TV(CATV) held a signing ceremony for the cooperation of the 2018 "China Hour" segment.

Meanwhile, exhibitors of the "China Pavilion " also presented a wide range of films and television programs, and cooperation projects with Arabic media. Ms. Wang Wanyue, Project Executive, Global Communications of CICC, introduced that the: “CICC is committed to Sino-Foreign cultural exchanges and International cooperation, through sharing Chinese stories to the world, and also introducing outstanding cultural achievements of the other countries to the Chinese people”.
 

“At present, especially in the context of globalization, China and the Arab countries are committed to achieving political equality and mutual trust, economic win-win cooperation as well as, cultural exchange. China-Arab relations rely upon each other in all aspects, reaching mutual benefit and win-win result. I believe the pragmatic cooperation of media industry can be the model of friendly bilateral relations.” Mr. Jin Ruimin, Director of Programming of CGTN-Arabic added.

Mr. Eng. Anas Al Madani, CEO & Vice-Chairman of INDEX Conferences & Exhibitions, said that he hopes the media would be able to launch more diverse exchanges and cooperation in the future.

A large number of media, broadcasters and production companies also expressed their interest. The Chinese delegation created a solid bridge and built a strong foundation for future of China-Arab media cooperation. This event has achieved a complete success.
