Gulf News -- The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority on Sunday denied Al Houthis' allegations of launching a missile towards the UAE.
In a statement issued to the official news agency WAM on Sunday, the authority said the UAE’s air defence system is capable of dealing with threat of any kind.
The Barakah nuclear power plant is immune to all possibilities and is equipped with all the security and nuclear safety systems required for such giant national projects, it said.
The authority reassured the UAE citizens and residents that the county’s atmosphere is safe and stressed that the UAE will always be secure and safe.
The UAE hosts some of the regions most sophisticated anti-ballistic missile systems, such as the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) anti-missile battery.
Unlike the patriot missile defence system, THAAD is capable of intercepting a wider range of ballistic missiles both within and outside the earth’s atmosphere.
Reports of the missile attack come after a Saudi-led coalition, of which the UAE is a part, bombed Houthi positions in Sanaa and after a breakdown in the alliance between the rebels and forces loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh.
It called on the public not to pay attention to such misleading rumours being circulated by the anti-state media which are aimed at spreading false news in order to question the capabilities of the UAE, its strength and security, the statement added.
