Emiratis no longer require pre-entry visa to visit Ukraine

Emiratis will no longer need a pre-entry visa to visit Ukraine as of December 31.

Holders of ordinary UAE passports can now enter the country on a visa on arrival with the possibility of staying for up to 30 days on each visit.

Diplomatic and private passport holders can stay for 90 days within 180 days, Wam reported.

The move follows a deal that was signed between the UAE and Ukraine on November 2.

The National -- A $20 million (Dh73.5m) compensation case filed against flydubai following the crash of its passenger jet in Russia last year was referred to the General Civil Aviation Authority on Wednesday.

The case was filed by a Russian brother and sister whose parents were among the 62 passengers and crew members killed in the plane crash on March 19 last year.

The National -- UAE residents will pay up to 13 fils more per litre for petrol in the New Year, as oil prices continue to hit highs.

The UAE Ministry of Energy announced on Tuesday that consumers will pay Dh2.24 a litre for Super 98, a 4 per cent rise from December’s figure of Dh2.15. Special 95 will also increase 4 per cent to Dh2.12 from Dh2.04, and E Plus will cost Dh2.05, up from Dh1.97. Diesel prices will rise to Dh2.33, a 6 per cent hike from last month.

The National -- Parking will be free from Sunday, December 31, 2017, to Monday, January 1, 2018, across Dubai to celebrate the New Year.

All paid parking zones will be free, except at multi-level parking lots, until Tuesday January 2, 2018, when fees will be reactivated.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority made the announcement on Wednesday along with adjusted timings for all public transport.

Gulf News -- The Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeals on Tuesday issued tough rulings in a range of cases related to state security, handing out jail sentences ranging from three to 15 years. The court also issued fines ranging between Dh50,000 and Dh1 million in cases related to promotion of terrorism, espionage for foreign countries and joining terrorist organisations.

The National -- People have been warned to prepare for even more delays as fog is set to persist across the UAE.

Heavy fog has blanketed parts of the country since Friday, disrupting flights, stranding passengers and causing traffic problems over the busy holiday period.
