The National -- Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi has unveiled a selection of the rides and attractions planned for the 1.65 million-square-foot theme park that is scheduled to open in summer 2018 on Yas Island near Ferrari World.
What we know so far...
The indoor theme park will feature six different lands that will be home to a total of 29 rides, all inspired by stories and characters from DC and Warner Bros world.
When visitors first walk in, they'll find Warner Bros Plaza, which is inspired by the golden age of Hollywood. From there, you'll be able to go to one of the six zones, including Metropolis, Gotham City, Cartoon Junction, Bedrock and Dynamite Gulch.
Here's what we know so far about two of the six zones - Metropolis and Cartoon Junction. We will keep you updated as more information on the other zones is revealed.
Metropolis: home to Superman
Metropolis is a fictional city in the DC world, best known for being the home of Superman. However, the zone will also feature other Justice League characters, including Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Latern, Cyborg and The Flash.
The offices of Metropolis’ newspaper The Daily Planet will be home to Superman 360: Battle for Metropolis, a ride they're promising to be a pulse-quickener that features the Man of Steel battling good versus evil.
Thrill enthusiasts can also try out Justice League: Warworld Attacks — a dark ride with immersive media and special effects that will involve a lot of darting and swooping, or Green Lantern: Galactic Odyssey, a 4D ‘flying theatre’ experience that takes riders to different planets using special effects that will stimulate multiple senses.
There will also be a Teen Titans Training Academy play area with a zip line and other obstacle courses.
Dining options in this zone will include Ace O’ Clubs, Bibbo Bibbowski’s for fast food, or Park Ridge Market, a grab-and-go café.
Cartoon Junction: a kid-friendly zone
Another area of the park is Cartoon Junction, which will star classic cartoon characters, including Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, Sylvester, Pepe Le Pew, Elmer Fudd and more. The area features nine family-friendly rides and attractions.
First off, there's the chase-style Tom and Jerry Swiss Cheese Spin, where you'll get to move through the duo's house on a spinning coaster. There is also a haunted dark ride that is 'trackless' called Scooby-Doo The Museum of Mysteries.
Other kid-friendly attractions include the classic carousel ride called Cartoon Junction Carousel, Daffy’s Jet-Propelled Pogo Stick, which features a vertical ‘jump tower’ as well as Tweety Wild Wockets, a ride that spins passengers around. There will also be a walk-through stage show experience called Meet Bugs! (and Daffy).
Those looking to grab a bite can head to ACME Commissary for fast food, or for sweet treats there's Huckleberry Hound Pies, Penelope Pitstop Cotton Candy or Yogi Bear and Boo Boo Ice Cream.
