(WAM) - To commemorate the UAE’s first manned mission to space, Montegrappa, an Italian company of luxury products, has launched a unique fountain pen commissioned for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, celebrating Hazza Al Mansoori, the first Emirati Astronaut in space.

Soyuz carrying first Emirati astronaut docks at ISS (Video)

The first Emirati astronaut blasted off to space on Wednesday evening and was heading towards the International Space Station at 13,000kph as his proud his country looked on.

Major Hazza Al Mansouri made history as he climbed the steps of the Soyuz rocket, giving a final wave to relatives and television crews before a 5.57pm take-off from Baikonur, Kazakhstan.

Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building developed by Dubai’s Emaar Properties, lit up on 24 September 2019 ahead of the UAE’s foray into space, which was marked by Emirati astronaut Hazza Al Mansouri blasting off into space aboard the Soyuz MS-15 spaceflight on a mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

The UAE send its first Emirati to space – Hazza Al Mansouri, an F-16 pilot and father of four with the pride of a nation on his shoulders. The Daxing International Airport in the capital Beijing was formally opened by President Xi Jinping on Wednesday.
