Filipina Starbucks worker in Dubai Mall honoured for her honesty

Dubai Police honoured a Filipina worker in Starbucks cafe for her honesty as she returned Dh195,000 in cash, two cheques for Dh500,000 and Dh6,250, a cheque book and some documents forgotten by a man inside the cafe.

The worker, Mae Anne Olmidillo, 27, branch manager at the Starbucks outlet in Dubai Mall, helped return the bag to the owner before she was surprised by police officers who called on her to honour her in the presence of her workmates.

15 pupils injured after school bus accident in Dubai

A major accident involving a school bus and a lorry in Dubai caused serious delays during the morning commute on Monday.

The crash left 15 pupils and two bus supervisors with minor injuries, while the drivers sustained moderate injuries.

Motorists headed towards Sharjah were caught up in huge tailbacks at the Business Bay Crossing towards Al Rebbat Road, following the accident between the water tanker and the school bus at about 7am.

Ministry confirms UAE public holidays for rest of the year

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has confirmed the public holidays to be held during the rest of the year.

According to a timetable posted on the authority’s official Twitter page, residents will enjoy four days off, including two in November and two in December, before 2019 draws to a close.

The first holiday to be marked is Prophet Mohammad's Birthday, which will fall on 12 Rabie Al Awwal, expected to be Saturday, November 9.

Emirates bans some MacBook Pros on its flights

Emirates airline has banned some MacBook Pro laptops on flights because of defective batteries that pose a fire risk.

The airline's security alert was issued after Apple recalled 15-inch MacBook Pro models sold between September 2015 and February 2017.

"As a safety precaution, travellers will not be permitted to carry these MacBook Pro models as checked-in or carry-on baggage on Emirates flights unless the battery has been replaced," Emirates said on its website.
