Etihad Airways has unveiled a major Economy transformation programme starting with the cabin upgrade and refurbishment of 23 narrow-body Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. The retrofit programme, which includes new personalised wireless streaming entertainment to smartphone and tablet devices, is scheduled for completion in August this year. Investors and entrepreneurs granted permanent residency in the UAE will be granted a "gold card" confirming their new status.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, announced the move on Tuesday.

He said about 6,800 people had been granted permanent residency under the first round of applications.

They collectively pledged investments of an estimated Dh100 billion, he said.

Small DA42 plane crashes in Dubai: GCAA

WAM – A UK-registered small DA42 plane crashed three miles to the south of Dubai International Airport, killing four people on board, the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced today.

The four-seat plane crashed while on a mission to calibrate terrestrial navigation systems at the airport, with all crew members, three British, and one South African, killed, said the GCAA in a statement.
