Heavy rain, thunder and lightning could be on the way over the next week, forecasters have warned.

Clouds will begin building on Saturday, especially over the west and east, bringing a chance of rain. They will continue to gather on Sunday, moving over southern and eastern parts of the country, leading to further showers, especially in the afternoon and evening.

However, the worst of the weather will take place from Monday to Wednesday.

UAE Space Agency and Exolaunch: MeznSat set to launch by end of 2019

WAM -- The UAE Space Agency and Exolaunch have announced a joint agreement to launch MeznSat into orbit by the end of this year. The agreement was signed during the recent Global Space Congress in Abu Dhabi.

MeznSat was developed by students from the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) and Khalifa University. The satellite will operate using a shortwave infrared spectrometer to measure the abundance and distribution of methane and carbon dioxide in UAE’s atmosphere.

WAM – Four commercial ships were subjected to sabotage operations today, 12th May, near UAE territorial waters in the Gulf of Oman, east of Fujairah, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, MOFAIC, has announced.
