Ras Al Khaimah makes 'noteworthy strides', says World Bank report

The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has made "noteworthy strides" in ease of doing business, a World Bank report has noted.

According to the 'Doing Business 2019 in Ras Al Khaimah' report, the emirate has shown "significant improvement" as a result of reforms introduced by federal authorities in four areas: starting a business, dealing with construction permits, registering property and enforcing contracts.

17 centuries in language, culture chronicled in 'Historical Arabic Language Dictionary'

WAM -- The Emirate of Sharjah will undertake a first-of-its-kind project, compiling the 'Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language'. The dictionary will examine 17 centuries of development in the Arabic language, as well as Arab culture.

UAE Cabinet approves new provisions for sponsoring expat family members

WAM -- The UAE Cabinet has adopted a decision to amend provisions of the resolution on sponsoring of foreign workers to their families in the country.

Etihad Airways has enhanced its upgrade system, enabling customers to now use Etihad Guest Miles as a form of payment to bid for a premium seat in a higher cabin.

Motorist caught speeding at 264kph on Ras Al Khaimah road

A young motorist was caught driving at a speed of 264 kilometres per hour on a Ras Al Khaimah road, police have revealed.

Police said the driver was one of six people caught travelling at a speed faster than 200kph last year.

Col Ahmad Al Naqbi, director of the traffic and patrols department at RAK police, said the emirate’s latest traffic report showed that 85 per cent of the deadly accidents on RAK roads were caused by speeding.
