Toyota recalls more than 1 million vehicles over fire risk

Toyota Motor Corp. is recalling over one million Prius and C-HR crossover sport-utility vehicles globally to repair a portion of the electrical system that could cause a fire. The problematic wiring harness is associated with the vehicle's hybrid power unit, and vibrations and accumulating dirt can wear down the harness insulation at the connection point. In time, there is a possibility of an electrical short, creating a fire risk.

Emirates Dubai to New York flight: three passengers and seven crew taken ill (Video)

An Emirates Airline flight from Dubai was kept isolated at John F Kennedy Airport in New York on Wednesday after reports that a number of passengers on board were sick.

Three passengers and seven crew members on flight EK203 have been transferred to hospital for evaluation and further medical treatment, Emirates said in a statement.

Car ploughs into Dubai bank sending customers fleeing

Two people were injured when a driver lost control of his vehicle and smashed into an ATM booth in Dubai.

The accident happened on Thursday night as customers queued to withdraw cash at the busy Burjuman shopping centre.

“The motorist lost control of his vehicle after recklessly driving on the pavement and swerving to his right side. He then crashed into the glass door of the ATM booth,” said Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Al Qasim, head of Dubai Police's media department.

Microsoft 'hopeful' of deal to lift Skype ban in UAE

Microsoft is hopeful that the ban on Skype in the Emirates will be lifted, following discussions with the UAE authorities over the use of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services.
