Eid Al Adha 2018 holiday for UAE's private sector announced

Private sector employees will have three days off mid-week for Eid Al Adha this year.

The holiday begins on Monday, August 20, and ends on Wednesday, August 22, with employees returning to work on Thursday, August 23.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced the holiday along with Eid greetings to the UAE's Rulers and residents on Tuesday.

New name for Jumeirah Lakes Towers metro station

It's all change at Jumeirah Lakes Towers metro station - which now has a brand new name.

The Dubai metro stop - one of 29 stations in the emirate spanning more than 50 kilometres - will now be known as DMCC.

The name represents Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, the free zone which is home to more than 15,000 companies.

The public sector will get a week-long break for Eid Al Adha this year with the government announcing a five-day holiday from Sunday, August 19, to Thursday, August 23.

Employees of ministries and federal departments will resume work on August 26, after the regular Friday-Saturday weekend, according to a Cabinet directive announced on Saturday.
