The National -- The large scale of the movement of foreign citizens to the UAE has been revealed in a United Nations report, which shows the population shift from India to the Emirates is the second largest globally between any two countries.

The United Nations’ 2017 International Migration Report said there are now 3.3 million Indian-born people in the UAE, which is almost four times the figure of 2000, when the Emirates had 0.9 million Indian-born residents.

The National -- The UAE has no plans to delay the introduction of Value Added Tax - and there will "no favours given to anyone", the Minister of State for Financial Affairs said.

Obaid Al Tayer told members of the Federal National Council on Tuesday that VAT, which comes into effect on January 1, will have a minor effect on investors and consumers.

Abu Dhabi Airports’ announced on Sunday the completion of the Midfield Airside Road Tunnel (MART) that links the new Midfield Terminal Building (MTB) with the southside terminals (Terminal 1 and 3) at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

The National -- Three men died when a fire broke out in a warehouse in Al Quoz area on Sunday.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at 5:04am. “There were three fatalities and 54 workers were rescued,” said a Dubai Civil Defence spokesperson.

The three workers were all of Asian origin.

The fire spread to two other warehouses before fire crews, led by Lt Hussain Al Rahoumi, managed to extinguish the blaze shortly before 9am.
