Al Mamzar Beach in Dubai has officially reopened following a significant redevelopment that introduces a wide range of new recreational and waterfront features. The upgrade marks the first phase of the ambitious Al Mamzar Beaches initiative, led by Dubai Municipality.

The project forms part of a broader AED 3 billion masterplan to enhance beaches across the emirate, with the Al Mamzar Beaches initiative alone accounting for AED 500 million in investments. The redevelopment aims to elevate the emirate’s coastal infrastructure and attract more visitors with improved amenities and expanded beachfront areas.

Among the key additions is a floating walkway that connects both sides of the lagoon, offering scenic access across the water. The site now features more than 5.5 kilometres of tracks for running, walking, and cycling, alongside an extended swimming shoreline that stretches 3.6 kilometres.

A highlight of the upgrade is the introduction of a 300-metre night beach, allowing visitors to enjoy the waterfront after dark. Additional facilities include an outdoor gym, volleyball and padel courts, and designated zones for water sports, catering to a wide range of recreational preferences.

The redevelopment has also significantly increased the size of the sandy beachfront, which now covers 182,000 square metres more than double its previous footprint. This expansion was achieved through land reclamation using approximately 350,000 cubic metres of sand. According to officials, the work was guided by environmental studies to ensure the sustainability of coastal conditions while accommodating higher visitor numbers.

The wider Al Mamzar Beaches initiative also encompasses the development of Al Mamzar Corniche and is designed to host up to seven million visitors annually upon completion.

Looking ahead, further upgrades are planned for several other coastal areas in Dubai, including Jumeirah 1, Jumeirah 2, Umm Suqeim 1 and 2, and Jebel Ali Beach, as part of the emirate’s ongoing beach redevelopment programme.
