FIFA is set to generate record revenue of approximately $15 billion from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to a statement by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

The projected figure represents a major increase compared with the previous World Cup in Qatar in 2022, which generated around $7.6 billion in revenue during the tournament’s commercial cycle. The significant growth was driven by several factors, including the expansion of the competition from 32 to 48 teams, increased sponsorship value, higher advertising revenues, expanded hospitality programs, and strong global demand for tickets.

The 2026 tournament, hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, set new records in terms of scale and fan engagement. FIFA reported unprecedented interest from supporters worldwide, with millions of fans attending matches across the three host nations.

Official ticket prices for the World Cup final in New Jersey reached up to $34,500 for premium categories. Meanwhile, some secondary-market listings reportedly reached extraordinary levels, with individual tickets offered for more than $1 million. Such prices reflected individual resale offers rather than official FIFA ticket prices.

The tournament attracted approximately 6.81 million spectators, surpassing the combined attendance of the previous two World Cups, which recorded a total of 6.44 million fans. The average attendance per match reached around 65,351 spectators, while stadium occupancy reached a record 99.7%, highlighting the exceptional global demand for football’s biggest international event.

The financial success of the 2026 FIFA World Cup demonstrated the growing commercial power and worldwide appeal of football. Record revenues, near-capacity stadiums, and unprecedented fan interest underlined the tournament’s importance not only as a sporting competition but also as one of the largest global entertainment events.

With expanded participation, new markets, and increased commercial opportunities, the 2026 World Cup has become one of the most influential and financially successful editions in FIFA’s history, further strengthening football’s position as the world’s most popular sport.
