The Emirate of Dubai is now offering a free 30-day alcohol licence for tourists, a move that ensures visitors will not be penalised for breaking the law.

Alcohol retail outlet Maritime and Mercantile International (MMI), a subsidiary of the Emirates Group, has a separate segment on its website instructing tourists on the process of applying for the license. The National – The Arianespace company today announced that the European Vega rocket, carrying the UAE's 'Falcon Eye 1' satellite, deviated from its orbit after two minutes of blast off, and the satellite has been lost in space.

Gold bars were among the 7,408 valuables left inside Dubai's taxis by passengers during the first half of the year.

Money, mobile phones, passports and jewellery accounted for many of the other items.

Dubai Taxi Corporation on Sunday said 70 per cent of the items were returned to their owners so far.
