The UAE’s leaders watched on as Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week officially got under way on Monday with a message of support from the President of China.

Child killer will face death penalty, Abu Dhabi court rules

The National -- A man who raped and strangled an 11-year-old boy on the roof of an apartment building in Abu Dhabi will be sentenced to death, the Court of Cassation has ruled.

Athan Janjua was returning from a mosque across the street from his home when he was brutally attacked by Mohsen Bilal in May, 2017.

Bilal, who disguised himself as a woman by wearing an abaya, lured the boy to the rooftop of the apartment block, where the victim lived with his family.

Two zookeepers attacked by jaguar at Al Ain Zoo

The accident happened on Sunday but only came to light on Wednesday.

The incident is believed to have occurred due to human error when an interior cage door was left open, contravening the zoo’s strict safety protocols.

UAE's first fully electric bus now in service in Abu Dhabi

The National -- The UAE’s first fully electric bus is now in service in Abu Dhabi — and passengers can ride it for free for the next few months.

The Eco-Bus, launched by Masdar, is serving a six-stop route between Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station and Masdar City.

The bus has been added to the city’s Department of Transport’s fleet and has been extensively tested to check its performance.
