flydubai announces 14.4% passenger growth

flydubai has today announced its Full-Year Results for 2016 reporting a profit of AED 31.6 million (USD 8.6 million). It has reported total revenue of AED 5 billion (USD 1.37 billion) an increase of 2.4% compared to the same period last year. The stronger second half, driven by increased passenger numbers, was impacted by downward pressure on yield leading to lower overall revenue growth reflecting a continuation of the same adverse factors reported in the first half.

Study says UAE's contributions to solar energy helped cut costs across the globe

WAM - A Japanese study has said the UAE s support for renewable energy contributed to make solar energy cheap and it is now becoming cheaper to produce, with bid prices for solar and wind power projects in Europe and the Middle East dropping to levels comparable to coal-fired thermal power.

Passenger traffic at DWC climbed 84.5 per cent in 2016

WAM -- Passenger traffic at Dubai World Central, DWC, Dubai’s second international hub, witnessed a strong surge in 2016, climbing 84.5 percent according to the traffic report issued by operator, Dubai Airports, today.

Expo 2020 Dubai will award 47 construction contracts worth AED 11 billion (3.0 billion USD) in 2017 as preparations for the first World Expo in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia continue to gather pace.
