Islamic New Year on 2nd Oct. is holiday for private sector

WAM -- The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has declared Sunday, October 2nd, 2016, an official paid holiday for all private sector employees in the UAE to celebrate the coming Islamic New Year, Al Hijri 1438.
Saqr bin Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, made the announcement following provisions of Article 74 of Federal Law No. 08 of 1980 concerning labour relations and its amendments.

RAK’s Russian visitor arrivals up 4.2% on last year

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), which develops the emirate’s tourism infrastructure and initiates its domestic and overseas promotions, strengthened its presence at this year’s Leisure Moscow trade fair amid an apparent bounce-back in Russian visitors to Ras Al Khaimah, as year-on-year arrival figures show a 4.2% increase in the first eight months of this year compared to 2015.

Dubai Police launch smart app to combat human trafficking

WAM--Dubai Police have launched a smart app, the first of its kind in the region, to combat human trafficking through helping victims and monitoring these crimes.
Brig. Dr. Mohammed Al Murr, Director-General of the General Directorate of Human Rights at Dubai Police, said that the service will help human trafficking victims to report, using the smart app, so that police officials could reach out and provide them with assistance, including legal support.
