Emaar has plans for 200-metre high Sky Walk for adventure seekers

The National -- Adventure seekers can slip into a safety harness to walk on a 200-metre high Sky Walk as part of a new attraction in Downtown Dubai.

The half-oval steel structure is suspended outside level 53 of the Address Sky View towers and has been planned as a major tourist attraction by Emaar Properties.

Abu Dhabi receives 2.6 million hotel guests in 7 months

WAM -- Up to 2.6 million guests were welcomed by Abu Dhabi hotels during the first seven months of 2017, with a 4 percent uplift recorded last month, compared to July 2016, according to figures released by Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA.

Around 400,000 guests checked in during July, maintaining an annual growth of 7 percent.

World’s longest zip line will open in Ras al-Khaimah

WAM -- Ras al-Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), has announced that the world’s longest and highest zip line will officially open on the UAE’s highest peak, Jebel Jais, in December.

The longest zip line in the world in Ras al-Khaimah will open the first week of December and will be one of several eco-friendly products on Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak, which is set to become the adventure tourism hub of the Middle East.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has approved several future projects by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority, RTA, after reviewing their details and strategic importance.

They include a project to develop Al Khawaneej Road and an updated plan to construct walking paths along Dubai Creek, as well as a project to develop Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Road and other projects linked to the Expo 2020 Dubai.

UAE donates $10 million to 'uranium bank' for nuclear ambitious states

The National -- The UAE has contributed $10 million to a 'uranium bank' that has been established to discourage new nations from enriching nuclear fuel themselves.

The International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN global nuclear watchdog, opened the $150 million bank in Kazakhstan on Tuesday.

President orders release of 800 prisoners ahead of Eid Al Adha

WAM -- The President, Sheikh Khalifa, has ordered the release of 803 prisoners ahead of the religious holiday of Eid Al Adha.

The pardoned inmates had seving jail terms for a variety of minor offenses, reported state news agency Wam.

Sheikh Khalifa pledged to settle the financial obligations of the released prisoners to give them a chance at a new life and alleviate the suffering of their families, Wam said.

Eid Al Adha holidays: Dubai Metro, bus, free parking timings

The National -- All paid parking zones in Dubai - except multi-level parking lots – will be free of charge from Thursday August 31 to Sunday September 4 for Eid Al Adha.

Fees will be restored on Monday September 5, according to the Roads and Transport Authority.

The RTA also released operating hours for all public transport in the emirate during the Eid Al Adha holiday.

On Thursday, Dubai Metro Red Line Stations will operate from 5.30am to 2am the following day.
