UAE grants paternity leave for private sector employees

Private-sector workers are now entitled to more parental leave after an order from President Sheikh Khalifa on Sunday.

Under the new law, private companies should give male and female employees five days of paid parental leave, to be taken within six months of the child's birth.

Previously, UAE law did not require private sector companies to provide the leave to male staff, although companies could include paid paternity leave at their discretion.

Abu Dhabi schools to charge full fees regardless of the mode of attendance

Students will need to pay tuition fees in full, regardless of the mode of attendance and reopening model followed by the school, according to a new set of guidelines issued by Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) on Monday.

The 21-page document, viewed by Khaleej Times, outlined an extensive list of guidelines for parents preparing their children for the new school term, after Covid-19 restrictions shut educational facilities across the country in March.

Residents must get 'green' ICA message before returning to UAE

Travel agents have advised UAE residents returning to the country to thoroughly check requirements before booking their air tickets. This includes getting a negative Covid-19 PCR test result and checking the validity of travel on a Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship (ICA) website (https://uaeentry.ica.gov.ae).

Protests in Belarus continue, more than 6,000 arrested

The Russian government sent five planes of medical equipment and a team of doctors to set up a field hospital in Beirut to help the city in the aftermath caused by Tuesday's explosion, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations said Wednesday.

The ministry also sent a team trained for search and rescue operations and a mobile laboratory to identify cases of COVID-19, the TASS news agency reported.
