The developer Meydan has announced the launch of a new scheme known as Meydan One featuring a 711m-high tower, a huge new mall, the world’s largest indoor ski slope, a 25,000 sq meters indoor sports facility, the biggest dancing fountains in the world, a beach and a civic plaza capable of hosting up to 60,000 people. Flydubai to begin flights from Al Maktoum International Airport

Flydubai will begin operations at Dubai World Central (DWC) from October 25, the budget airline said on Tuesday, bolstering Dubai's efforts to have carriers switch from the emirate's busy main airport.

Flydubai said it would serve destinations during the winter schedule from DWC's Al Maktoum International Airport. It will become just the fifth passenger airline to operate from DWC, with many reluctant to move operations from Dubai International.

The complex task of building moving sand-dune walls at the UAE pavilion in Milan

Hundreds of intricate panels expertly made by engineers and workers in a factory in southern China were fitted together perfectly to build the giant, dune-inspired structure that is attracting thousands of people at the Milan Expo.

The sand-textured UAE pavilion walls were created using 330 moulds to replicate the patterns and ridges of dunes on to 903 panels made at a unit near Panyu city.

Etihad Airways new B787-9 Dreamliner raises bar on Singapore route

Etihad Airways has set a new benchmark for luxury travel on the UAE-Singapore route with the start of daily Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner services this weekend.

The UAE has become the first Gulf country to liberalize the price of fuel. As of August 1, petrol prices will increase by an average of 24%. The government has decided to remove subsidies on fuel and make the price of petrol and diesel variable in line with average global prices.

Until now both have been subsidized by the government, and fuel in the UAE has been paid for at a flat rate despite the fluctuations in oil prices worldwide.

Global property developer Emaar Properties records 12% growth in first half

Global property developer Emaar Properties PJSC recorded a net profit of AED 2.205 billion (US$ 600 million) during the first six months of 2015 (January to June).

This 12 per cent is higher than the first half 2014 net profit of AED 1.977 billion (US$ 538 million). Revenue for H1 2015 is AED 6.497 billion (US$ 1.769 billion), 13 per cent higher than the H1 2014 revenue of AED 5.730 billion (US$ 1.560 billion).
