Eid Al Fitr 2018 holiday announced for UAE private sector

The Eid Al Fitr holiday for private-sector employees will be Shawwal 1-2, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced on Tuesday.

Depending on when Eid begins, Shawwal 1 will either coincide with Friday, June 15, or Saturday, June 16.

"It is decided that the first and second days of the month of Shawwal 1439 Hijri shall be a paid vacation for all private-sector employees on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr," a circular issued by Minister Nasser Al Hameli said.

U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong-un concluded an extraordinary nuclear summit Tuesday with the U.S. president pledging unspecified "security guarantees" to the North and Kim recommitting to the "complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."

UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait agree $2.5bn aid package for Jordan

A $2.5 billion aid package for Jordan has been agreed by the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait at a summit in Makkah.

The agreement includes a direct payment to the Jordanian central bank, as well as the three nations acting as guarantors to the World Bank on Jordan's behalf.

Development projects in Jordan will be financed by the donor nations over the five-year deal.

World’s largest coral reef park to be created off UAE coast

The UAE's Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) has signed an agreement to cultivate the largest coral reef garden in the world along the coast of Fujairah.

The memorandum of understanding with the Fujairah Centre for Adventures will create the garden, expected to set a Guinness World Record, and provide a haven for biodiversity to sustain and rehabilitate ecosystems in the UAE.

Zabeel House hotel opens on the banks of Dubai Creek

Zabeel House Al Seef, the second hotel of four in Jumeirah’s new ‘Upscale Casual’ collection is set to open this week.

The hotel is located in the heart of Dubai Creek at the entrance to Al Seef, a new district developed by Meraas, that has 90 restaurants and 350 retail outlets.
