Dubai is the most expensive place in the world to buy a summer dress and surf the internet, a new global ranking says.

Deutsche Bank’s annual Mapping the World’s Prices report outlines the prices of a range of goods and services to rank the cost of living in 50 cities relevant to global financial markets.

Fifty guests fall ill during stay at Sharjah hotel

A hotel in Sharjah says it is working with the authorities to investigate why more than 50 of its guests became suddenly ill.

The men, women and children staying at the Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort and Spa were admitted to hospitals across the emirate after suffering bouts of vomiting and diarrhoea.

They have complained to authorities of suffering from food poisoning symptoms but that the cause of their sickness has yet to be determined.

A newly-disclosed malware infection has compromised more than 500,000 home and small office routers and NAS boxes.

Researchers with Cisco Talos say the malware, dubbed VPNFilter, has been spreading around the globe, but appears to primarily be largely targeting machines in the Ukraine."Both the scale and the capability of this operation are concerning," Talos writes in its alert.

New research from various cities in the world presented at this year's European Congress on Obesity in Vienna, Austria (23-26 May) demonstrate that if current trends continue, almost a quarter (22%) of the people in the world will be obese by 2045 (up from 14% in 2017), and one in eight (12%) will have type 2 diabetes (up from 9% in 2017).

Dubai Zen Tower blaze: Initial investigation into cause of fire revealed

A fire that forced more than 100 residents to flee a Dubai Marina tower and left the building badly damaged began in the kitchen of a business on the ground floor, investigators believe.

Fire and rescue chief Brigadier Rashid Khalifa Buflasa said an unspecified flammable substance caught alight and quickly spread to the rest of Zen Tower.
